What is your name?

My name is Big Wayne

Where were you raised? (Stomping grounds)

I was raised in St. Croix, a small island in the U.S.V.I. then I came to Boston at the age of 9. I have been here ever since!

What do you do?

I entertain, I'm a Dj personality!

How did you get into it the DJ Arts?

When I was 12, I use to stay with my father a lot, and he was big into hooking sound system, and electronically stuff. I was very curious, and interested on how powerful he would make music sound!

Where you grew up, was  Deejaying popular?

Back in my early years, for the most part Calypso, and Cultural Reggae was big in St.croix. When I came to Boston first, it was a little bit different. It was a mixture of Reggae, and hip-hop.

When and how did you first become interested in music?
How long have you been playing music?

At the age of 15 four friends and I decided to form a Dee jaying group. At the beginning we started putting money together, and building sound. It was quite an experience. We were all young in the game, but very serious, and had a passion for all kind of music! Since then I have ventured on with different sound men, trying to make a name for my self. It's been about 14 years since I've been playing music, and I feel I have gain enough respect to say I am good at what I Do!

What or Who are some of your musical influences?

My musical influences, are first God for giving me the strength, and the talent for playing music, second is other Dj's such as Junior Rodigan, Sound Vibration, Prima International, Sound Inc, and the list goes on and on, When I started out playing music, these were the Dj's who I use to go out and listen to which gave me more of a reason to play music just by their different styles, and by the way the music was presented, and last but not least all of the people I have played for, with their compliments, and their encouragements pushed me more further in my love for playing music!

What kinds of times and places have you played music in your life?

I pretty much played in various occasions, regular house parties, cook outs, Weddings, Soca shows, West Indian Clubs, on the Road for Carnivals, on the radio, College's, and boat rides!

What else do you do besides play music?

Beside playing music, I work for a company called Ikon office Solution. Ikon provides various fields of customer services just about in every kind of job you can think of. My job is photographic/Courier. I work at Lesley University in Cambridge, and I do various copying jobs for students, and staff. I also do drop offs, and check ups on all the machines on campus.

So your sound is called "Eruption sound", tell us what that your sound stands for and who else is involved.

I picked the name Eruption sound because I was once told by a certain individual when u pick a name for your sound, you need to pick a name that has meaning and something behind of it. From the way that I play, and how I keep people on the dance floor, it's always full blast. I'm always full of energy. So Eruption is that Blast of Energy. It fits my name, my title, and what I do best.

Would you consider Eruption Sound strictly a Soca, Reggae, Dancehall or  what we like to call a "Mix" sound?

Mostly Soca but more a mix sound, I play everything. I played what people want to hear. I'm not a bias fella. I appreciate everything in music, and all it's developments!

How long have you been together?

Eruption Sound (Myself) is the new name for 2007, and I plan to stretch it as far as I can!

Why did you choose to play soca?

I play soca because this music is in my nature, and it's my home music!
Because of the rhythm, and flow to each song. It gives me feelings!

What is for favorite tune to play right now?

My favorite tune to play right now is a soca song called Smoke Signal by Bajan Artist Peter Ram!

What is special about that song?

What is special about that song is the melody, and how the beat is played. Peter sings that song with passion, and the music follows right behind. That's one of them songs that can be played for the next 3 years!

What makes Soca music "good" to you?

The beat, and the melody!

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

In 5 -10 years, I see myself well established with high achievements in music, my own group, eventually I want to pass the torch onto someone else, and teach them what I know already. I also want to get into promotions. Promoting shows, and doing big setups!
